This is actually my first crocheted wall hanging using the #6 bulky Wool-Ease yarn from Lion Brand. The “pattern” was really improv which was freeing. It is so easy to finish for a day or weekend.

It starts with 21 single crochet stitches. The rest of it is 20 double crocheted rows. This way, I could achieve the height very quickly. This wall hanging took a day which gave me quick results and was not too taxing to complete.

I like the totally improv nature of this piece. It allowed me to practice with the double crochet, color changing, and the fringe inside of the piece. I chose not to do a single crocheted trim around the whole piece. I wanted the colors to bleed to the edges and not be trimmed by a contrasting color.

To finish this one, I did a multi-color fringe on the bottom which was super easy. For the top, I used a coordinating twine that I had laying around and single crocheted that to the top of the piece. Then the second row of the twine is a chain stitch to create the loops every 4th stitch. The picture that I have shows the piece hanging on two nails. However, the piece can also be hung with a dowel going through the loops.

Hubbie walked into the studio shortly after this one was done and claimed it right away. He loves candy corn and fall colors. He said that this piece reminds him of Halloween. He wanted this for his office. My original intention was not for Halloween but to display my favorite fall colors. In talking with hubbie, he came up with the Halloween theme so this was his from the start.
